What teams need to reach the main round - UPDATE

ROAD MAP: Only three teams have their main round spots secured, meaning the race remains open for the majority of EHF EURO 2020 participants.

Croatia, Portugal and Norway have already qualified for the next stage of the EHF EURO 2020 with one preliminary round game still in their hands. France, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia are now unable to progress, meaning the other 18 countries will fight for the nine remaining places in the main round.

Here, we provide a detailed road map for those sides ahead of their last matches in the preliminary round.

GROUP A

Croatia – through to the main round with 2 points and 31:23 score

Belarus – through to the main round with 0 points and 23:31 score

Serbia – out

 

GROUP B

Austria – through to main round 

Czech Republic – through to main round

North Macedonia – out 

Ukraine - out

 

GROUP C

Spain – through to the main round 

Germany – through to the main round 

Netherlands – out

Iceland - through to the main round
Hungary - through to the main round if:

  • they do not lose to Iceland
  • they lose to Iceland AND Denmark do not beat Russia
  • they lose to Iceland by one goal AND Denmark beat Russia by one goal AND Hungary's total number of goals scored will be higher than Denmark's

Denmark - through to the main round if:

  • Hungary lose to Iceland AND Denmark beat Russia by more than one goal
  • Hungary lose to Iceland by one goal AND Denmark beat Russia by one goal AND Denmark's total number of goals scored will be higher than Hungary's

Slovenia – through to the main round
